Registrar refund policy

Scope

This policy covers domain registrations, renewals, and transfers processed through Deepnom Registrar (operated by Vitviggs Electric Ltd, Hong Kong). It does not apply to marketplace transactions for aftermarket domain names, which are governed by the Deepnom Escrow Terms.

1. When we refund automatically

If we collect payment for a new registration and our upstream registrar (OpenSRS / Tucows) subsequently rejects the registration with a permanent error — for example, the domain was just registered by someone else, or the registry rejected the WHOIS contact data — we refund the full charge automatically, usually within 24 hours of the rejection. You will receive an email summarizing what happened.

The refund is issued to the same payment method you used at checkout. Stripe typically returns funds within 5–10 business days.

2. When we cannot refund

Once a domain is successfully registered, renewed, or transferred into your account, the charge is non-refundable. This is because the wholesale fee we pay to the registry is already committed and is itself non-refundable. Specifically:

  • A change of mind after a successful registration.
  • A renewal that you forgot was scheduled (you can turn off auto-renew at any time from the domain detail page).
  • A completed transfer-in — the extra year of registration cannot be returned.
  • Lost access to the email address on file, when subsequent WHOIS / renewal notices go unread.

3. Payment card disputes

If you initiate a chargeback with your card issuer for a domain we successfully registered on your behalf, the domain will be cancelled. We will cooperate with the issuer's investigation and provide proof of provisioning.

4. Taxes

Vitviggs Electric Ltd is based in Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not levy VAT, GST, or sales tax on services, and no such tax is included in your checkout total. Depending on where you are, local taxes may be your responsibility.
