Lease-to-own
A payment plan where the buyer pays monthly until the domain is fully owned. Common for premium inventory in the $5K–$100K range where one-time payment is a barrier.
How it works
The domain stays in escrow custody during the payment window (typically 12–60 months). The buyer uses the domain throughout via DNS pointing; the seller receives monthly payments; on final payment, ownership transfers.
Risk
If the buyer defaults, the domain returns to the seller and prior payments are usually non-refundable. Both sides need a written contract beyond the marketplace’s standard terms.
