GDPR + WHOIS redaction
Since 2018 ICANN requires registrars to mask the registrant name + email + address from public WHOIS to comply with GDPR. Registrar contact replaces the registrant in public records.
What’s still public
Registrar, creation/expiry dates, and nameservers — same as before.
How to request unredacted data
The RDRS (Registration Data Request Service) takes requests from authorized parties (law enforcement, IP attorneys, security researchers). Approval rates vary by registrar.
