Open ascending-price auction — bids increase publicly until the timer ends. The most familiar format and the default on most domain marketplaces.
Mechanics
Bidders see the current high bid + min next increment. Anyone can place a higher bid up to the close. Highest bid wins and pays their bid amount.
Anti-snipe
Well-designed English auctions auto-extend by a few minutes when a bid lands in the final window so the auction never closes on a last-second outsider bid.
